Because I dont know the answer, I have a question that is not meant in any offensive way, but rather, I wonder. Why does it appear that gangs are so prevalent among hispanic youth?


Is there something the rest of us can do to help them get involved in more worthwhile activities?

Universally and without exception, short of removing a child from their home, environment, and everyone they associate with there is NOTHING anyone can do about this kind of thing.

It's the parenting. These kids come from incredibly toxic family environments that causes them to act out.

Actually it usually is the opposite. Black kids usually have the bad home enviornment, Mom on crack and or welfare, dad dead or locked up, siblings all troubled, etc.

In many of these hispanic families these people own their houses ,have nuclear families ,the dad works-some times the mom too, they are devout catholics and often times other siblings will be successful in things like school, sports, work, etc. A lot of the latino gangmembers come from households that other demographics could only dream of, but they throw it all away.

You see it all the time in lower middle class bay area locales. Hayward, Antioch, Tracy, Fairfield, Gilroy, old part of livermore, san leandro, San Pablo, union city, etc.
