I always marvel at these types who tar with a wide brush an entire huge state of 40 million people because of their limited personal experiences that have a good chance of being brought on by how THEY present themselves. (example: many former NYC types who move here)

My sister, who lives in South OC, has made numerous comments on how friendly people in my area seem to be, compared to where she lives. According to the OP's logic does that mean the entire state is friendly? Must be.

Topics like this are just as wetoddit as the ones where the OP asks "What's the weather like in California?" Or "What are the people like in California?" Or the always amazing "Why is California nothing but suburbs and tract homes?"

The more people that crowd into one square mile tend to become really cranky. It's not a pleasant way to live.

I have leaved in Oregon, Nevada, Virginia and California. California is my favorite. I have seen rude, arrogant, selfish people in all these places. But I have also seen sharing, respectful, and caring in all these places. Stereotyping a whole state is kind of ignorant.

Actually, #1 and #3 are pretty much statewide.

Really not true if you visit much of the state including CA deserts, mountains, forests, foothills, NorCal coast, etc... Not only does the weather vary radically depending on CA's geographic diversity - highest mountain to lowest desert these areas all have different kinds of housing: urban, suburban, coastal, country, hills, mountain living, etc... In these areas you have tract homes, mansions, custom beach houses, ghetto projects, row houses, historic homes, adobe, and many more styles of architecture.

Sport, for #1. compare the weather in San Diego to Bakersfield, to Alturas to Eureka to San Luis Obispo to Baker. etc, etc, etc.

For #3. I bet you had no idea that nearly 50% of the state is uninhabited wild land.

Heck, may I suggest a small rural town in Nevada, stop your car, walk into the Owl Club (every small Nevada town has one) Introduce your self by saying, " Hi, I am from California!"

The one in Battle Mountain, Nevada was very nice the time myself and my huntin buddies walked in for a drink and to catch the monday night football game a few years ago. Broncos vs Raiders. Good Times.

I worked with a woman who grew up in Battle Mountain, her dad managed the Owl Club there decades ago.

My wife grew up in Elko, a bit nicer town, she and her friends would ride there bicycles past the cat house to get to Arctic Circle, not a claim too many can make these days.

You just don't want to tell people you are from California, throw some mud on your California plates.

Never. Not even when I lived in N. Idaho, surrounded by Calif hating skinheads, nazis and white supremacists. I never hide where I'm from.
