Tell me folks, how does teaching any particular subject affect your life?

And why is your complaining about the new subject not, just normal business as usual prejudice against a particular group?

And so called "Gay History" differs from plain old history how?

Oh, I get it. Based on the (unproven) thesis that gays have been systematically excluded from "plain old history" we therefore must adopt a quota system, to ensure that the gay people / total people ratio in history books is as prescribed by the Ministry of Truth. Or maybe there need to be history books that include nothing but gay people. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Specifically including gay people is a good thing, just like specific races. It's important that George Washington Carver wasn't just some guy but a black guy. But I bet they won't cover the ongoing HIV epidemic (20% of gay men in America currently are HIV+)

Of course they won't. The law specifically forbids the teaching of anything that portrays Gays in an "adverse" light. Only the truth as dictated by the California Government may be taught. Sound a bit like Fascism?

I see two benefits to this:

• Acknowledging the accomplishments of gay citizens

• Scaring off the fundie religious nutjobs from moving here and hopefully inducing the ones who do live here to move to another part of the country

god must really love Lesbians, as the rate of HIV in Lesbians is quite low.

Fontucky I agree with you, anything to make the nutjobs leave the state, or the out of state nut jobs stay out, works for me.

Perhaps we need a law requiring all males in California to wear rainbow speedos.....

You are every bit as intolerant as those you criticize.

Will it make a difference in history if we re-write the books and label each person? If these people have contributed to history then they have already been recorded into history, will it change history to add a label to their name? Will each person need a brief history of their sexual preference included? How will they know all these details without asking that person?
Why waste the time with such things? Get back to teaching the things that are important for kids to learn instead of wasting their time with such nonsense.
