San Bernardino County, out in the middle of nowhere near China Laske and Ridgecrest. It's about as noteworthy as Weed Patch.

Default Redding most Hillbilly! (just trash)

I have lived in El Centro/Brawley; San Diego/Lakeside; Napa/Santa Rosa/ Chico and Redding CA.

Redding has bad energy and just one big Hick Town...it cannot even do redneck well...just white trash and more white trash.

Basically the historic motherlode region from what I gather from these posts is the most "redneck/hillbilly" region overall.

I am interested in Gold Rush history as it was really the begining of California as a place where people went to follow a dream. I would like to go explore the historic sites around Placerville, Sonora, Grass Valley, etc. at some point in the future. Certainly is is what triggered San Franciscos mid to late 19th century boom, and why it became a major port and financial center (Wells Fargo began with the Gold Rush. Comstock Lode continued the wealth building, and the central valley agriculture sustained it over a longer period. It was largely a presidio before that.

East San Diego County is redneck in my opinion. Lakeside especially is filled with Cowboys, Bros, and Confederate flags.

From what I am reading here in these threads, is there is a lot of racial split in the state.

Nearly all the areas they are being picked as being hillbilly, are the areas with the vast majority being white race.

Remember California is only 40.1% white race, and a large percentage of them live in the areas nominated as being hillbilly.

And this is important, why?

Quincy is hillbilly. Fiddles and all that during the music fest, and it's located out in the middle of nowhere in hill country.

I would love to see people define "hillbilly" and "Redneck." That would be awesome.

It's true. Eastern San Diego county in the suburbs and mountain areas, it does feel like the south. In the 90s there were racial hate crimes. It's slowed down quite a bit as it is becoming a bit more racially diverse but there are still a lot of bros with lifted trucks and old time cowboys roaming around.
