Obviously you suffer from an irony deficiency. We're not together on much of anything.

Oh, well, too bad about that. In any case I had Bradbury's book confused with Michael Moore's "documentary".

On the contrary, it's better to be completely illiterate than to pollute one's mind and imagination for the sake of "learning".

My stated method works extremely well. I have employed it myself and have the living, breathing evidence to prove it.

My vulgar habits combined with my imagination has made me very popular with extremely interesting women.

You may not have noticed, but dogmatic ideological tunnel vision, is hardly the sign of an educated man.

First you get the kids to read, just like JK Rowling did, once they realize there is cool stuff in books, they never stop. But, the trick is to get them to read.

A great book on educating the poor ghetto kids discussed the teacher's initial anger at the kids stealing his books. Then he figured out, they were stealing his books, to read them, so he made sure he always had plenty of books to be stolen.

A stolen book is a read book, a read book develops reading skills and curiosity. Reading skills, whether from Shakespeare or Hustler, combined with curiosity creates learners.

Like I said ... no imagination whatsoever.

A liberal education is impossible without the right sort of dogma.

You don't need to pump a child's mind full of garbage to teach him to read. I've got a houseful of voracious readers who have never read the kind of rot you think they need.

And so we have a nation full of thieves and pornographers, but hey, at least they're literate!

I don't think students should be allowed to say these words in the classroom, particularly in a truly profane context. But beyond grade school, I do not share people's prejudice against these words. If the removal of words from our vocabulary is a sign of advancing in civilization, we should adopt Nineteen Eighty-Four as our new Bible. There is much to be learned from it.

I'm sorry but this is really an example of how ideology - in this case an ideology of freedom combined with egalitarianism/non-discrimination - totally rots the brain and destroys the ability to make distinctions.

Words mean things. When you say the f-word - as in "we're f----d", for instance - you are referring to rape, usually anal rape. That's what it means. Think about it. Is there any reason why this should be part of everyday language? Shouldn't putting this vile image into someone's brain be considered offensive?
