I've read alot about security deposits and understand that some of the laws seem a bit vague and a couple of my issues are borderline so im not sure if im right or if the landlord is right.

First question: I lived in my apartment for 1 year and 1 day according to my statement but the landlord charged my full price of repainting. We did thrash the walls up, however we were there for a year and from my understanding we should be deducted yearslivedinaparment/lifeofpaint from the cost of repainting, essentially deducting our wear and tear and replacing the remainding life of the paint. The landlord claims that we must be there for at least 13 months for a deduction? Can they claim some arbitrary number like that or do they owe us 1 years worth a paint back?

Second question: My security deposit had an attempted deliver on the 20 or 21st day but we were not home to reciever deliver and dhl(the shipping comopany) was to silly to not leave us one of their missed delivery tickets and we were never notified of the misdelivery by dhl or the landlord. Well that's not really their fault, so much as it was the shipping companies fault for not notifying us IMO. Well anyways i contact the landlord a couple months later when i realize it never came and asked them about it, they told us about the misdeliver and said were responsible to contact them which is slightly bogus IMO since they have our numbers to contact us. Anyways they resent the same check and we recieve it within a day or two. Well everythings seems fine now, until we notice the check is written to the wrong people. Three of the names were correct but mine was incorrect and as far as im concerned that makes that check no good to me, especially considering i was the one in possession of it and cashing it. Well i call them back and it takes them another week to reprocess and send the correctly written check. So ignoring all the misdeliveries, it took them 3 weeks for a bad check, plus 1 week to resend a good check for a total of 4 weeks. They claim that since they tried within 3 weeks thats all that mattered. Well they keep redirecting me to a manager who wont return calls and i was going to discuss it with him but since he won't return the call, who's right? Is the deposit return considered late because it took them 3 weeks plus 1 week to return it?

Normally i wouldn't be so knitpicky and understanding of peoples mistakes, but they had well over a bakers dozen of inconvientant mistakes while we stayed there and then tried to turn around and get knickpicky on us on something else they actually screwed up so i'm now curious on how precisly the lines are drawn on these laws.

Your landlord should have just mailed your check first class mail. That is all the is required. If they do not know your forwarding, then it's sent to your last known address.
