More interesting would be to ask of those which ones do you have no clue where they are. I'll fess up:

National City (I think it's near SD)
Stovepipe Wells
Glamis
Lakeport
Alturas (sounds familiar but can't place it)

The first three, no problem, although of the three only one is a city. You're a product of CUSD, so you shouldn't have a problem figuring out which one that is.

The last two on your list, I believe, are in the Northern territories. Therefore I don't know from nuttin.

Same for Barstow. I believe the word "Barstow" is actually and Indian word for "Burger stop on road to sin".

All of those cities on the list and many, many more. Had an airplane at the time when I was looking for "the last good place in CA" years ago. Traveled the entire state. Couln't find anyplace where I would want to bring up my kids and where commerce and education was accessible.

Then started searching the western states. Settled on Colorado. Was a good move. Still enjoy visiting CA, but would never live there again. Just the taxes would be enough to deter me to say nothing of the political environment.

Familiar with that one since it's where my dad was born.

Believe it or not my great grandparents and great great grandparents moved to Barstow from Colorado in the early 20th century.

I actually chose the cities very intentionally.

I've always been fascinated with Alturas.

My parents managed an apartment for a short while in Chico.

We were going to go on a four-wheeler trip to Glamis 10 years ago.

The only one I screwed up with was Woodland Hills. I meant "Hillsborough".

Glamis & Stovepipe Wells aren't even towns, much less cities. They barely qualify as wide spots in the road.

I have not been to Elsinore, Glamis or Calexico. How did Stovepipe Wells get on the list?

When you were born and raised in Ca and job changes created more moves you have probably been to or though almost everyone of them. We have lived in several.

Our favorite, that would depend why were in the city: I love visiting Pasadena, lived there growing up and we lived in Altadena when our kids were young. For living, I think Sac was our favorite. We lived in east Sac which was part of the San Juan school district, good schooles, safe area and nice neighbors, plus the cost of living was lower than many parts of Ca. Of course everyone loves San Diego and San Francisco is a great place to visit.
