Hi. I'm looking to rent (for now) a new home in the country. Would like an area that has the twisty valley oak trees, streams, fairly moderate weather in Winter, and is not too windy, cold, arid or humid. A place not so expensive where I could hopefully buy at least 20+ acres someday. Privacy, serenity & safety are important to me. Can't handle the chaos & congestion of high traffic, noise & too many people, although I want to be near a bigger city (maybe 20+ mile commute). Don't care for mosquitoes or excessively buggy areas. Like to see green grass, rolling hills & flowers much of the year. I'm asking for a lot... I know. :-) Thanks! TC

What is your budget? Will you have to work for a living? If so, doing what kind of work?

Hi. Right now I'm living in a nice $1700/mo rental house on 2 acres near Chico. I'm retired military, full-time student working on my Masters degree. Also a freelance photographer, hypnotherapist & healing arts practitioner. Looking to relocate further south when my lease is up next year. Only considering leasing for now. Love this area, but too cold & windy and too far north. For now, just checking out areas where I'd like to live. I seem to be more interested in central CA, but would consider southern CA if it offered what I mentioned in my first post. Not interested in the desert. Thanks for your reply! Best wishes. :-)

Jill of all trades... master of none. ADD brain. Kids grown, empty nest. Gypsy military soul, can't sit still. Continue to look for the right place where I finally feel I'm home. Sigh... Wasn't in KS, TX or CO. At least I've narrowed it down to somewhere in CA. :-)

I should figure out a macro to post exactly this. It's the answer to so many "where should I live" posts.

I almost didn't open this thread as it had the word city in the title.

Check out Napa Vallery or Sonoma Vallery. Lots of large properties for sale, from 2 acres to 60 acres.
