What a train wreck. lol

Quote:
Then there are the multiple lawsuits filed by local jurisdictions and private groups opposed to the train slicing through their environs. As if that weren't enough to cast serious doubt on ever seeing a 220-mile-per-hour train connecting San Francisco and Anaheim, a congressional committee and the U.S. Government Accountability Office have launched separate investigations into what we call the Moonbeam Express, after its most vocal champion, Gov. Jerry Brown.

In light of critics' continuous detailed inspection of its every plan and the looming legal proceedings, what should we make of a new policy that the rail authority is considering – destruction of its email records after 90 days?

Were we the suspicious type, we might conclude the rail authority has something to hide.

The investigative news website California Watch reported Monday that critics suggest "it's an unusual time to purge five years' worth of bullet-train project emails."

Unusual to say the least...

Good times.

To their credit, it's probably a smart policy. Not to derail (sorry) the conversation, but we all recall the "Climategate" debacle where emails were found and quickly taken out of context by non-scientists, even though other inquisitions didn't find anything nefarious going on. They would have done well to erase their emails after 90 days. Not saying the HSRA ISN'T hiding anything--they probably are--just not saying they're necessarily being sketchy.

If it was a large corporation under investigation of course there would be cries of foul play. When it's a green energy dream project, eery silence.

On a different note, I guess NIMBY's aren't always a bad thing. If they can get this $100B albatross of a project killed off.

Yeah, b/c it's not nearly the boondoggle that HSR is.

The HSR Authority is an embarrassment to California.

Because regional projects for mass transit make more sense and are generally more efficient.

I thought Japan was going to help finance and build HSR. What happened to that plan?
