We are moving to Willow Creek, California. Can anyone give me any information about this town? We used to live in Eureka/Arcata area and are moving back and settling in Willow Creek. Any info about Hoopa would be great, too. Thanks!

Cold and snowy this time of year, hot and dry in the summer. But it is really quite beautiful. It is not a very big town, under 2000 people.

You're welcome. Tell him to look for the green honda ridgeline with a dragon decal on the hood. Mine is the only green honda truck in town. It will most likely be loaded up with a mower and gardening tools.

YOU ARE SOOOOO LUCKY, TO BE MOVING TO WILLOW CREEK AREA!!
i have lived in willow creek area since 1978, willow creek is a wonderful place to live, its only about 45 minuits to drive to eureka, which you will want to do, if you want great shopping, malls, walk in theaters, etc. BUT otherwise, who needs town lol
summers are great, camping, swimming, hiking, boating, bird watching.
i moved away in 2001, and wish every day i was back there.
small school, , then high school is in hoopa.
do you have children? they will love it ( i think ) my children did.
hoopa is even smaller than willowcreek.
when are you moving? i went there in april of 06, for 3 week vacation, and had missed the area so much, that i took over 2oo scenery pictures, lol
it helps to look at them, when i really get homesick, BUT NOT THE SAME AS SEEING IT IN PERSON.
they have the BIG FOOT DAYS PARADE, which is really a lot of fun, and you can partisapate(i was on the float for the hoopa hospital one year.)
get in touch with me, and i can sent you some great scenery pictures to look at, over the internet. peg

Default Possible Move to Willow Creek

I could use some help. I am currently debating a possible move to Willow Creek. I would be working a Indian Health Medical Center in Hoopa valley (Kimaw). I am not familiar with this area. Before I make this decision, I could use some help about what to expect. living cost, social, fun activities, climate, etc....by the way does anyone know how long it takes to get from willows creek to Hoopa valley? where are the nearest towns?

The "Towns" are what you see on the map, small and far apart. It takes about an hour to get from Willow Creek to Hoopa. The roads are treacherous and often closed in the winter and WC is an hour over the pass to Arcata which hs the nearest full medical facility. I would recommend it for the young and adventurous, not so much for older folks although there are a lot of retirees in the area.. Cold in the winter, hot in the summer, great if you're into rafting.Best of luck to you. We need good medical people.
