Hi everyone,

I know that policies vary greatly among different landlords and rental companies, but I was wondering if in general it's possible to rent a place in California (north or south, say no more than 45 mins from SF or LA) that costs around 1k for a 1 BR without having a cosigner or guarantor or job (or steady job history, for that matter) but with plenty of savings (enough to pay many years' rent) and excellent credit (774 according to Credit Karma).

Any general insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well, if you are thinking of paying out on the entire lease up front...........NO, do not do it!!!!

As for as a potential landlord giving credence to the fact that you have a large savings, that will probably vary from rental to rental.

I don't see a problem with it. Not like you are going to get any interest on that money anywhere as the alternative.

Yeah, but if you run into a serious problem........well, good luck getting a thin dime back.

Creepy landlord holding a year of my dough...........no way!

Yes. Some places use your credit score exclusively, it all depends on the management/landlord.
