What's been noticeably absent this year have been the persistent May gray and June gloom of the past two years. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. Back to the same old same old.

Its 107 degrees today & 100 inside my home. This has been a hot summer so far with no relief in sight. It was only 63 in santa monica (44 degree difference).

Relax, by this weekend you'll forget it was ever hot.

Tell my aging cats thats. One is really having a rough time. My cooler is very old & it leaks plus the 1/2 hp motor runs at 1/2 speed when the weather is hot. Ill just soak myself & my senior cat down.

100 in the house? You could die in that type of heat. Better get to a cooling station. Better yet cancel your internet and buy a new cooler.

Yeah it was pretty warm here this AM. It was actually around 60 at dawn. Will probably crest at about 85. Tomorrow it will all be a fading memory. (Sorry to rub in a day in the life of Sunset Western Gardening Guide Zone 17 - got to get something for these outrageous RE costs).

I finally replaced my 4 yr old aspen cooler pads & got my cooler up & running yesterday. The belt is a lil loose but it runs fine. The temp inside dropped 20 degrees (100 to 80). My cats are content & i did it mainly for them. The cooler isnt leaking (knocks on wood). A chance of thunderstorms today & tomorrow. That will be so nice. I live in a old (1965) mobile home. Its a oven in the summer & a ice box in the winter but i have been dealing with it for almost 14 yrs. I still prefer a mh over apts but not houses. My downdraft cooler is old & is rusting away but i patch it up annually. In 2 1/2 months ill be shutting it down for the season. The motor seems to be running at normal speed but the float is a ***** to adjust. When the cooler is on water does run from the valve. Its just a xtra $1.00 to my water bill a month (when in use). Its been doing it for yrs. At least i get nice cold air so i dont mind.

Looking at some temperatures, I would have to say that it's slightly cooler then normal, no?..
Cold and Hot ... unpredictable, unusual and just downright bizarre. The cloud formations are bizarre and unnatural. A heat wave just started so with a very unusually dry winter and spring we are expecting the same fire conditions as in Colorado which is unusual for this time of year. Normally our fire danger is in late summer and fall.

It looks like rain today & it was abit windy earlier. I hate the humidity but rain would surely be nice. My car wiper blades are shot but i dont plan to drive my gas guzzling boat for a few days (next week ill be using it alot).
