Yep, they do not own the water, the state owns the water as it is on state property.

RE: Paraphrasing "white people don't want tax dollars going to minorities" comments further up in the thread.

I didn't know that Statism (or wanting something besides it) was a black, white, or brown issue.

I would think that if a good alternative to the excessive Statism of the current mainstream CA and OR systems were presented, it would appeal to anyone who valued their economic freedom.

Where did this term "statism" come from? It appears to be the new buzzword for commie pinko socialism. Whomever dreamed it up was wrong from the get go. Today in America we have the Greater Statist Party vs the Greater Statist Party, and danged if I can tell which one is which.

There are only three types of societies the human race belongs two. Bands, generally less than 100 individuals, chieftainships, more than 100 up to some numbers, and states, The only nation on earth right now that is not statist is Somalia. I don't see those who complain about "statism" flocking to the nonstatist paradise of Somalia.

Loss of what "economic freedom"? You mean the 60 or so year window of relative opportunity following WWII that turned out to simply be setting up the top 10%? It was an illusion everyman was sold by his keepers ... pay it no mind.

The only "freedom" is in your hearts and minds ... not your wallets ... money is no key to freedom, it just makes you a slave. But keep buying all this plastic crap and muttering about how it costs so much more this week than it did last week to have all the stuff that mankind lived without for thousands of years until just the last 100 -- if that's what makes you happy.

Up until the dumb Keynesian easing and border busting of the past 15 or so years, that post WW2 boom made lots of people of modest means quite wealthy. It was unprecedented. Too bad we lost the recipe during the Idiotic 90s

Actually, too bad we ever bought into the notion that material wealth is any measure of quality of life.

I don't disagree Null.. more of an allusion, we let good fortune turn into greed and lust for,material,things..

Billy, Yes, 90's were bad, greed for materialism came to full bloom.. IMO we lost the recipe, when no longer a dedicated worker could count on their job, the job payed a wage that could support a family, had health insurance, benefits and a retirement plan. Like my father, a wwll vet, with a high school GED, worked for Ma Bell as a lineman for 35 years to retirement.. got a clock at retirement. We lived frugally, but he raised 3 kids on that wage... When that went away is when we lost it.. That combined with globalization, low interest rates, encouraging people to go in debt and borrow more.. Think about it who did that and why??? , Corporate Wall street and their political cronies.. They poured fuel on the fire, encouraged us to want more spend more, so they could have obscenely high executive pay and higher stock prices...
