I had a Dodge truck that had the death wobble, I understood what was happening and could stop it. It flat terrified my passengers. I chalk it up to bad engineering on the part of Chrysler. The fix from the factory is relatively simple, increase the king pin inclination.

A Jeep is not a high speed machine. If you kick it up to any speed at all on a washboard road you will immediately experience the limitations of the suspension as the Jeep is as likely to bounce you clean off the road as it is to spin around in a 180.

Doesn't modifying the suspension already void the warranty? That's their way of saying "Don't modify this." According to the story, this doesn't happen on stock Jeeps, only lifted ones, and doesn't happen only on Jeeps. So now every manufacturer is responsible for anything that might go wrong when people modify one of their products?

One would think California lawmakers would have common sense to realize this is not a Chrysler problem, but lawmakers are not known for having common sense.

Doubt it'll go anywhere.

It's like suing GE because they made the oven that you put gasoline in, which then caused a fire that burned your house down.

At the end of the day, this is like the hoopla over the circumcision ban: basically anyone can go ahead and try to pass a bill or push to have a new law instated. That doesn't mean it'll happen, or even be given any serious consideration.

But in California, today's joke becomes tomorrow's possibility and next week's reality.

I drove lifted Jeep wrangler few times and it wasn't a pleasant experience going above 50mph. It's maybe because I'm used to driving my modified Z32TT

Anna Eschoo and Henry Waxman. But Yee probably put them up to it.

Well, considering Chrysler sells said after market modifications... I don't see it as inappropriate that lawmakers ask a company making a potentially dangerous product to notify customers.
