Ok, so you changed it online. Will they send you something to carry with your DL?

I do not know
I did go by the DMV a few months ago for the truck registration. My wife picked up a few forms that could be filled in, there is a sticker or card stapled to them for putting on the back of licences. I will likely never get around to it even thou they are not 10 feet away. My licence expires in 2 months, the renewal will be mailed to new address.

Short answer to a rhetorical question - No.

So if you get pulled over by a traffic cop, you show a license with an invalid address?

anyone know? And why is it a rhetorical question?

Your licence is proof of I D, not residency, so yes you just show him that one. He'll look you up in the DMV database and see the updated info in any case.

The truck has the printed registration.
Any time I have been pulled over the officer asks if my address is current. If questioned about the silly sticker I will say it fell off.

I drive the speed limit now, often I drive 55 in 65/70 limits. Better mileage and no pesky tickets.

My wife was driving my truck one day, pulled over for 87 in a 55. CHP had no problem with her licence with old address.

I'm in the same boat as yourself. When I've changed mine online, I received a paper copy (similar to a ss card) with the correct address in the mail. I have to show it when I show my regular license so they have the correct address. Yes, it's a pain, but in 20 years, I've only had one mess up (and I even told her to use the correct address, but she must not have heard me over the popping of her gum), so that's not so bad.

You won't. I am from another state and if you changed your address you were sent a new driver's licnese...not the same here.

After changing it online I was sent a little brown DMV card that you fill out yourself (your DL # and new address) and carry it with the license that you had before you changed your address. One side is English and the other Spanish.

If you absolutely need to have your DL with the correct address and can't wait until it is up for renewal then pay $25 and order a replacement: Driver License and Identification (ID) Card Information
