I live in the foothills and we are reminded each year to have our defensible circle around our homes.
Only a fool would leave the brush near their home, but we do have plenty of brush and fools.

Not that you wrote the article or headline, but I find it ironic that the headline mentions the homes vs the firefighters that were injured. Talk about priorities. Since when was stuff more important than people?

My motto is: Natural disasters are a fact of life. Learn to work around them, keep the people and animals safe, and all is good.

Well, with only your "two suitcases" of life possessions -- plus two pups ... one might assume you'd rush in to save the pups and not the mini-pile of laundry ... I'd call that minimalist ...

Lol You've got me pegged for sure. I've been through many natural disasters. The only things I've ever grabbed were the animals, and if I had time, the family photos and my purse.
