We have some friends staying in SF who for various reasons can't make it all the way to LA so we're trying to think of somewhere mid-wayish between us and them to meet on Saturday but I don't know it at all - any suggestions? Just somewhere we can spend the day easily and get dinner in the evening before heading home, beach, town, whatever but def PCH rather than along the 5 if possible. We'll have 2 small children in tow but they're fairly easily amused

Thanks!

My we were in a similar situation a couple years ago and met up in San Luis Obispo with a friend.

Its a nice town; we stopped for tea at Black Horse, but it looked like there were tons of other places to eat and chat too.

I'd prefer Santa Barbara but that would be too much of a drive for your friend up north.

My friend used to drive from LA to SLO to meet with his SF girlfriend.

It makes sense location-wise.

I would say Coalinga/Harris ranch is the exact halfway but that's on the 5, so San Luis Obispo it is

Also paso robles in SLO county

Try the Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo.
