My son is moving to Edward A.F.Base.He has to live off the base.Any suggestion where to live nearby safely and easy commute? Is it really that bad to live in Palmdale or Lankester(did I spell it right) town?

I would have him stay in temp housing for a period until he meets friends and finds out the best locations from fellow workers. If I was working in the desert I would find a cooler/greener place to live.

The best part of working at Edwards is being able to say, "At least it isn't China Lake (Ridgecrest)."

Moderator cut: see note If your son posted this himself would he list just easy commute and safety (vs., say, nightlife)? Rosamond is very small. Palmdale and Lancaster at least are bigger and closer to L.A. I assume Edwards AFB has info on places to live. People at the base itself would seem to be a good source of info.

You don't like Rosamond, therefore no one should? That again?
