Sunnyvale used to be a great place to live but it, like the rest of the Bay Area, is too expensive and the vibe has changed over the past fifteen years. Like so many other posters have said you would need to move to Vacaville or places further to the East. There are many real estate listings available online and also compare the COL sites. The Bay Area isn't the only great place to live and work so think through you decision before moving to such an expensive place. Many have left after a short time for a better quality of life.

Define "reasonably priced house" - what's your budget?

Define a "reasonable" commute - how many minutes?

Your median priced home in Sunnyvale today is about $1.5 million, just as a starting point.
