I'm not a fan of Zuckerberg himself, but it's no surprise that his philosophy, as well those of others who own and run social media sites, would appeal to a greater number of people--including Californians.

His primary goal when he started Facebook was to improve communications between individuals and to create a more tolerant, democratic society where information would be open and widely shared. Older, authoritarian models of business, government and management would become obsolete in this new Internet culture where people all over the world could communicate instantly.
