And you should be grateful. More room for you. Not right or left. But left, alright?

The Democrats have been bailing out the Republicans sine 1933.
Republicans caused more problems than answers.::Example Regan closed all the mental hospitals.
Do not have the space to put them all down.

I grew up in a board and care home. These ladies were loved and cared for by my mother like members of our own family. Once Reagan did his thing these people were literally all set loose on communities that didn't care to fend for themselves. You could walk down the streets near San Jose State or Santa Cruz, or wherever, and see these lost souls and see the results of this. Many of these people were soon dead because they could NOT care for themselves, including some from our home. A very grievous example of why OUR family has always been Democratic California NATIVES.

That's just sad. Today's Republicans would blame the mentally ill for not pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps.

There is no better sure-fire way to break the ice in CA than make a joke about the Republicans. Works every time.

You wanna know why they are in such sad shape? Don't listen to me, take it from the Republicans in this state:

Quote:

“They have alienated large swaths of voters, they have become too doctrinaire on the social issues. It’s become a cult.”

-- Allan Hoffenblum, who worked for 30 years as a Republican consultant in California.

Quote:
“The national party is becoming a party of very enthusiastic social conservatives driven by Southerners, It’s a problem if you’re an independent voter in California. If you think about the Republican Party, what national figure comes to mind? George W. Bush or Newt Gingrich."

-- Bill Whalen, a fellow with the conservative Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Quote:
“The institution of the California Republican Party, I would argue, has effectively collapsed, It doesn’t do any of the things that a political party should do. It doesn’t register voters. It doesn’t recruit candidates. It doesn’t raise money. The Republican Party in the state institutionally has become a small ideological club that is basically in the business of hunting out heretics."

-- Steve Schmidt, Republican consultant who was a senior adviser to Schwarzenegger

Quote:
“They’re just blind to the future. We’re passing the tipping point now, and they are not realizing that.”

-- Kimberly Nalder, political science professor at California State University

And finally, this from a long time Republican who quit the party:

Quote:

This year in San Diego, Nathan Fletcher, a Republican state assemblyman, quit the party to run, unsuccessfully, as an independent for mayor. “There are a series of issues where I am just fundamentally out of line with the current Republican Party in California — reasonable environmental protection, equal rights and marriage equality, immigration,” he said. “And it’s not a party that is welcoming of dissent on those issues.”

Are you sure about that? The local facilities like Napa never closed.

And...

The California Department of Mental Health operates five state hospitals throughout California including: Atascadero State Hospital (San Luis Obispo County), Coalinga State Hospital (Fresno County), Metropolitan State Hospital (Los Angeles County), Napa State Hospital (Napa County), and Patton State Hospital (San Bernardino County).

Each state hospital provides inpatient treatment services for Californians with serious mental illnesses. Additionally, the department operates two correctional programs, Salinas Valley Psychiatric Program and Vacaville Psychiatric Program.

Various court ruling at both the State and Federal levels have made involuntarily commiting people for more the a few days very hard. I know people have heard of the "involuntary commitment.....only if a danger to self or others" standard.

But go ahead and blame all the wandering crazies on Evil Ole Rayguns.

Actually the majority of California counties and land mass are Republican counties. The Democrats win because of the sheer number of population in a few highly populated counties.

The change in the state politics, is largely due to demographics. The Republicans were predominant back in the days when California was 88% white population about 40 years ago. In the last few years, the total number as well as percentage of population of the white population has actually declined, while the immigrant population has soared. The movement in the the state has been a negative figure for residents moving from other states to California, but immigration from other countries has risen greatly. Today the white population is down to about 38% of the population, and the balance is non white with well over 50% from 2 races, Hispanic and Asian both of which tend to be mostly Democratic voters.

California for now permanently entered into the Democratic camp, unless the Hispanic, Asian, and Black other people of color who were 59.9% of the California population in 2010 (and even higher 2 years later) who vote democratic almost exclusively suddenly change parties.
