Forgot to add... my counterparts had little concern over property taxes... in general, they were very low compared to California...

Many lived in homes that had been in the family for hundreds of years.

The taxes where there to basically cover the cost of maintaining the roads and snow removal...

Sales Tax and Income Tax and Import Duties contributed the most revenue...

FYI- California's vote on condoms in the porn industry just sent about another billion in revenue out of the state.

Way to go guys!

Tax the heck out of the rich...!
Just how successful do you think it is to tax the heck out of the rich?

They are the MOST ABLE to manipulate the system, whatever it is, to optimize their taxes. If California passes even more egregious income taxes, the people with income subject to these taxes will earn their income a different way. They could convince their employer to pay them differently. They could earn their money somewhere else. Corporations do this already. Apple, probably one of your favorite companies, is perhaps as good at avoiding California taxes as any entity. iTunes revenue occurs in Belgium.

An example of what happens when taxes are levied that business cannot handle easily. The medical device tax that Obamacare is bringing into effect, now that there is no chance the Republicans can get rid of this tax, medical device companies are already laying off people right and left and a lot of this manufacturing is being driven out of the U.S. and will end up in China.

PICKET: Companies plan massive layoffs as Obamacare becomes reality - Washington Times

More proof of what high taxation causes.

Obamacare, is just starting to get people laid off. Many have already let their people know, the high taxes under this plan for employers paying medical costs, will cause a lot of people to be laid off. Many companies especially small business, have already been lowering the hours people can work to under 30, so that they will be exempt from these high taxes. It is driving a lot of people from full time employment to part time (under 30 hours) employment. Again an example of what happens when taxes are raised on business. It is predicted that these medical taxes and expenses, will raise unemployment by up to 2%.

Question: How many of these companies will move a lot of their manufacturing out of the U.S., and give up having to fight high business taxes and costs? Due to competition from international companies, there is only a certain level one can raise prices to cover additional taxes on business, and higher operating costs. When the costs from taxes, etc. pushes a business operating cost over a certain point, their only option to stay profitable, is move their company to where they can again become profitable.

Tax the rich and the businesses, and California will see an even bigger exodus as the Rich, Companies and the well paid middle class accelerate leaving California.

OldTrader, what a load of horse ****. The Washington Times is the Rev Moon's partisan outlet and it has no creditability. It's basically a printed version of the Drudge report which means lies and half truths mixed in with ideological nonsense. How about a link to something from the fact based universe?

Time to reign them in.. Start at the national level... Penalties for those that move there $ offshore.... If they want the security of USD then they can help pay for what it takes to provide that security...

PS I strongly dislike APPLE... Steve was brilliant, but he is dead.. IMO so is the company.. As with, way to many publicly traded companies that replace the fundamentals that made them successful to begin with with share value..
