People say you cannot get any house in California for under $500,000 . Why is that ? Why are homes so costly?

Also why is 15% of the people have no jobs and cannot find work in California ? If it was not for the out of control California debt could they do some thing to get people jobs.

The California debt is out of control and getting much worse every year.

I wouldn't say you can't get a house under $500k, this isn't 2006. Maybe in expensive areas or highly populated areas this may be true, and it really depends where you live. My house was built in 2006 and sold for $512k, 5 bedrooms 2 story 3010 square feet, I bought it from the bank in 09 for $220k... let's be realistic, houses don't cost what they used to. There is new construction going on and these homes are VERY expensive, my same house would be $380k+ if I bought from these developments so unless you are looking for something BRAND NEW you can find plenty for well under that price. California loves taxes, we borrow and raise taxes we don't live in reality here.

House prices depend on where you live. there are plenty of jobs in the oilfields and as laborer.

I don't know anything about LA other than it's crowded, there are open trenches on the freeways, and traffic is horrendous... but I'm sure outlying areas are much cheaper as is in San Diego. East County is much cheaper as it's farther east.

I don't think California is "so bad" as you think sweat. The place is wonderful and well-developed. Yes, renting there costs high. That is why instead of renting, why not apply for a mortgage? I think owning a property in that place is possible.

I have 18 homes under $250K for sale right now.

My county has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state at 11.9%

Time for a new premise.
