I always enjoyed watching his show, kind of corny but I learned a lot watching his program:

A Los Angeles television station has confirmed that Huell Howser, maker of upbeat PBS shows about California for public television, has died at the age of 67.

Television station CBS Los Angeles, quoting Howser's assistant, Ryan Morris, said that the host of PBS' "California Gold" died of natural causes at his home on Sunday.

How sad.

I always come across his show while Im flipping through channels and stop to watch a segment or two. His southern accent was so out-of-place but so endearing.

RIP.

x2. Never followed his show, but had to watch whenever I stumbled upon it.

I do a fabulous Huell Howser imitation. It's easy. ask a question of someone and then repeat their answer with an amazed expression.

He will be sorely missed, a true example of "California's G0-uld"

I learned a lot about our state from than Tennessean. He did segments on Butte County and I learned things I didn't know about my own area. I didn't go out of my way to watch the show, but if I was flipping channels and came across it I'd usually stop for the remainder of it. Shame he died so young.

He will be greatly missed. No one could be more enthusiastic for whatever he found during his trips across our state.

RIP Huell. Loved watching his shows and loved his wonderful attitude while he did it... He was truly an example of a fine California golden citizen!

Truly a shame. Enjoyed his programs of "discovery" and his down-home approach and accent. Found it comforting and familiar from my childhood in the south.

An original in modern media. Something that portends to another age and something severely lacking today. Originality.

Adios and vaya con dios Huell.
