I hear a lot of California State Universities are commuter schools. I am an international student under the age of 21 who will be living on campus, so I looking for a school which has a lot of social/campus life; so I can experience the "college experience" as they say. I would hate to get bored!

I know some campuses will be better academically for me, but I've already figured that stuff out and looking for campuses I would enjoy myself most at.

I'm wondering what campuses would be the fit best for me in this sense?

The ones outside of the major cities. SLO, for example.

Chico State. Stereotypical college town with most students coming from quite some distance from their homes. Humboldt is another.

Most of them take a percentage of freshmen whom they're able to fit into their available student housing. For example, Cal State Fullerton used to accept 7% into their dorms. They all appear to vary.

I'd also love to experience some of the city life and what not. Would going somewhere like Chico, (while having more of a college experience) mean I'm missing out there?

What would you're opinions be, what would you go for?
I think because I'm under 21, my best choice might be somewhere like Chico. And just possibly visiting San Fran, Sac, LA etc on breaks..

SLO is good because its almost exactly half way between LA and San Jose. 4 hours either direction so its good for weekend trips.

The three that come to mind for me, right away: SDSU, Chico and SLO...All three have something different to offer and are good schools. BTW, most of the state schools do have dorms now and some kids who are not locals, but schools like LAState are designed to fulfill a need for those who live close by.

All CSUs have dorms, and plenty of students live there. Whether you live in dorms or an off-campus apartment is all up to you.

Most CSUs are seen as "commuter schools" because they are relatively inexpensive, which attracts students on a budget and students who have jobs.

Do you have a particular field of study?
