If there's room for a ccp there might be room to require insurance. /shrug

You do recognize the limits on your freedom of speech to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theatre, right? There's some liability for ya if anyone's injured...

Will there be subsidies for low-income gun owners? Or are 'progressives' proposing a regressive policy?

I wonder if you could constitutionally require insurance only for taking firearms off your own property (which would include any bullets fired)? It wouldn't restrict you from owning a gun, instead only regulating where you can use it (without insurance), similar to existing ''carry'' laws. Which BTW, could broadly be interpreted as only limited to folks who had a large enough property or approved shooting range where there was no likelihood of the bullets (aka, part of the ''gun'') leaving the owners property without insurance.

SB 610 passed in 2011 which stopped any agency that issues a CCW from requiring insurance.
SB 610 Senate Bill - INTRODUCED

This bill would provide that the applicant would not be required
to pay for any training courses prior to a determination of good
cause being made, as specified. The bill would also provide that no
applicant would be required to obtain liability insurance as a
condition of the license.

Ah. So here it is: Someone kills someone else with a gun. Who, what, where, and why doesn't matter. What matters is SOMEONE is getting paid for it. Everything is secondary. As long as the money flows, who cares and, moreover, who wants to stop the issue from occurring the first place? Why, I got mine...

See OP.

We now have a circular argument thread.

Probably 'cuz being hit in the pocketbook seems to be the only thing that gets anybody's attention anymore. Besides, a lot of ambulance chasers could use the work!

If you own a home or have other substantial assets, not having an umbrella liability insurance makes you a target (no pun intended) regardless. Not a good idea.

If you own and shoot firearms and don't have some type of insurance to take care of personal liability you are nuts. Would you drive without insurance? It isn't anti-gun, it is common sense, in general.
