I can understand how you feel about that, a lot of folks who haven't lived in other low tax states really don't see how much of a difference this can make to folks living on retirement income.

Many states that have income taxes don't tax pensions or some other classes of retirement income, or have specific exemptions for folks over 65, so it is worth taking the time to check that out really thoroughly.

Surprisingly, if you want to just rent you can do very well in some traditionally high tax states too. Places like Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts don't tax pension income. So if this is a significant source of your income, and you are only looking to rent a place (as many retirees do) then these can become legitimate options too.

They might be getting a bit of help with that humidity problem by drought conditions.

I just noticed on the US map that MI where Curmy is parked is getting droughty. How's the lakes water level Curmy?

I think it would be helpful if you actually read what I said, I never claimed there are "no rednecks in New England". Instead I said that there are many small towns in New England that have an educated, etc pollution where as the small towns in the South are almost all filled with rednecks.
