I'm a first generation native of California. My dad is from Baja California Sur.

He is a native of his California, I'm a native of mine.

Why is your username Temujin? Are you a fan (or descendant?) of the great Khan?

Which brings up a curious historical factoid. Mexicans, whether indio or criollo are descended from Central Asians. It is entirely possible that Temujin the poster is related to Temujin the Khan.

Although in this case I betcha the fellow is referring not to Genghis Khan or his brother Don, but to a fictional movie character.

Fourth, generation, grandmother, making my two children fifth generation natives and my granddaughter a sixth generation native. We are proud of it and sorry for what it has become. We have never thrown waste paper or beer cans out our car window. Nor would we have ever walked out of a 7-11 with children in tow and a waste basket within reach and thrown our waste on the ground. Never would we have changed a baby diaper in a public place and left the waste for someone else to pick up. Our people have worked hard and when things got really tough we planted gardens, milked our own cows and always shared with those neighbors who didn't have our blessings.

It is still a beautiful state but watching it slide to despair is hard for those of us native to the state. Especially since we welcome you all with opened arms and more often than not with open wallets. We realize you come from lands with nothing to offer, with governments that leave nothing for you and with hopes to have better for your children. We ask nothing of you but that you respect our beautiful landscape and help keep it beautiful.

May I recommend getting a fishing license, I think you need a hobby. Ed Abbey once said, "I throw my beer cans out the window, because it isn't the beer cans that are ugly, but it is the road that is ugly.

So, how many here are native-born, and if not, where are y'all from?

BTW, am originally from western NY (by way of SoCal, Miami, Indonesia, & Seattle).
I was actually born here in San Diego in 1975, at what is now Scripps Mercy. From 1991 to 2009, I lived elsewhere, including the Tampa Bay and Phoenix areas, and small towns in Vermont and North Carolina, and most recently, the Pittsburgh, PA area, which I miss like mad.

I do not have a "California NATIVE" license plate bumper sticker.

I find those discriminatory and will be speaking to my attorney as I feel they have intentionally inflicted emotional distress upon me by pointing out my non-nativity.
