Here in New York and New Jersey, you see signs on all highways saying "NO TRUCKS IN LEFT LANE". Does that exist in California freeways? I never seen any signs for that while I was in Southern California.

I also drove from LA to Vegas, I was surprised I did not find any state welcome signs at the border.

Yes, where marked.

Truck Lane Use

I'd think you just missed the Welcome to California signs.

Good post. And commercial violations are well enforced by the CHP.

As for Welcome to CA signs - you probably missed them during the hubbub of the ag checkpoint.

There sure has been a rash of driving-in-CA complaint threads lately. I'll tell you one thing I'm grateful for on the roads in CA, that I wish other states would emulate. That's the pull-over-if-5-or-more-cars-are-behind-you law. If you're in a rural area that only has one lane each way, you're obligated to pull over and let everyone pass, if there's 5 cars trailing you. That's a real blessing!

But why didn't I find signs for those to remind drivers?

They are on the highways. They generally say slow trucks stay right.

Because everything drifts to the left naturally in California.

You may not have noticed the signs because they are worded differently.
But there are some areas where a truck can enter the left lane when passing, also large trucks and double-axel vehicles have limitations on speed and lane, thus the wording would be different.

You must not be looking hard enough. The signs are everywhere, in relevant areas.

Doesn't matter if they exist or not. They won't be obeyed, just like every other traffic law in this state.
