I've always wondered about this combo. Here's the back story:

It makes perfect sense. Doughnuts are a morning food. Chinese food is a lunch/dinner food. Why not keep people coming in all day long?

Lots of donut stores are owned by Chinese and they want to broaden the appeal. Simple as that.

The best donut shop in town is owned by a vietnamese guy and his family. His family was one of the first waves to hit California back in the late 70's. I remember back in the late 80's when he opened it took over a winchells going out of business. Here recently we had a social media blitz including a write up in the local papaer to help his business as sales were laging. Going gang busters again. Best damn good ol'fashion donuts in the county. Every now and again I'll pop in a 3am when heading out fishing just to smell the fresh baked donuts as he is taking them out of the oil. YUMMMMMM

Capitol Donuts in College Square Mall, Stockton.

Donut King on Pacifc Ave is really good as well. Another longtime since the 1970's owned Asian shop.

Actually, they're owned by Cambodians who happen to make the Americanized Chinese food as well. It usually all sucks.

Around here they're all Cambodian-owned. For some reason none of them offer my favorite type, the cruller. Their doughnuts are good, but their coffee isn't. I'm a bit of a snob about coffee though.

Yeah I'm Cambodian and for some reason we like to own donut shops. Here in Oakland there are many Lee's Donuts that are all owned by Cambodians. I guess its one of those thing like how most liquor stores are woned by Arabs and 7-11 are owned by East Indians.

Fonty, you're so dainty! Who would have thought?

Have to admit, I'm also very fond of crullers but they can be hard to find.
