Anchor Steam is weak sauce. Old Rasputin of North Coast Brewery all the way. Also Lagunitas is pretty good too. Gordon Bierch is OK.

Anchor Steam is not only a pretty good brew, it's an historic one for the area.

More SF beer...

Good stuff before a game at ATT:

There can only be one!

Best Cities for Beer - 7 Best U.S. Cities to Drink Beer - Esquire

San Diego has repeatedly won the title of America's best beer city.

Bonus points if anyone got the highlander reference.

I'm a California native, and I have no beer in my fridge. Should feelings of inadequacy be in order?

In your obviously less than humble opinion. We like it. Your opinion doesn't count or matter. Snob value has no effect on our taste buds.

G'Day

You hipsters can keep your fancy beers and I will stick to Duff...OH YEAH!

Besides a truly annonying beer snob should have mentioned Pliny the Elder by now.

Personally, I have always been fond of Anderson Valley's Hop Ottin IPA.

No - just means you drank the beer. Kind of like an empty plate - dinner was good!

There's no snobbery involved. I drank two six packs of the stuff because I wanted to be fair. It was just so bland. There are other California breweries (Mendocino, Lagunitas, North Coast, Bear Republic) that are more worthy of my money.

God Zhugey, how is it to be so snobby that snob virtually rolls off your posts through the internet to poeple, yet you don't seem to be self-aware enough to realize it?

I mean, your posts are encrusted with thick Zhugey Loogey, and it's clear to everyone who reads your posts. It has to be intentional, right?

When I get condescending and pointed in posts, it's intentional for sure. You've gotta know, right?

Fess up, Zhugey.

I like Anchor but I can totally see how someone wouldn't like it. It reminds me of when friends come from the east coast and try In & Out because they've heard so much rave about it, and although they think the burgers are pretty good they think the fries are shockingly bad. In & Out fries don't have the same flavor that the other fast food fries have, they are just simple, rustic, fresh, and are a comfort food because of their history here. Anchor is similar, in that it's a very simple, rustic beer that's brewed almost the same way it was in the 1800s, favoring nostalgia over taste.
