First one I've ever felt from the Bay Area, so that was a pretty good shaker.

It could have been on one of the faults there (that would be good news, relatively speaking). Hopefully does not portend an eruption of Lassen (which of course would be very bad news).

Ooh, I just felt that in Davis. According the usgs it was 5.7 followed by a 3.5 (we only felt the one). Is there a fault line there? I figured volcanic.

I wonder if that's what just caused the I-5 bridge over the Skagit River to collapse up here 900+ miles north ... ok ... not ... but, what a night!

True story about the interstate bridge collapse just north of Mt. Vernon in Washington. I'm stuck up here now fo' while ... good news: summer's coming, no need to escape south for months.

Enjoy your tremblors.

the tv news is covering the earthquake and I just read online about the bridge collapse in Washington. It's a wild day in the west, it seems.

Felt it fairly strongly in Oroville, but I lived eight miles from the San Andreas Fault for ten years so it almost felt "normal" to finally have some shaking around here.

wow guys, I hope you are ok and were able to get some sleep. I remember those shakes too well. I guess you never really forget them, if you have even experienced one above about 5. We lived in the Pasadena area in 1971. And as a kid, I remember one in about 1953. Living in the bay area for 5 years in the 60s we only had a couple and they were not all that strong: I am guessing about 4 or even less. My prayers are with you, take care.

The Sierra Nevada fault sequence, which is the eastern edge of the rising batholith runs through the Greenville Almanor area, along with my back yard, plate tectonics at work. The Sierra Nevada Range is rising two inches per year, sometimes it shakes things up.

Quakes seem to be all over the place. A friend of mine who lives on the peninsula says she's felt a few over the last day or so.
