Everyone has told me to go back to school. I really don't want too because I see it as a waste of time and money. Yes I know I can get grants, loans, financial aid, etc. Even if I got 1 million to go to school I would not go.

But there are a series of schools from community colleges, trade schools, university, and other schools like ITT Tech, Everrest, American Career College, etc.

But are any of these schools even worth the time and money and degrees? I know a lot of people who went through these schools and are now in debt or have a degree but no work what so ever. So are these worth it or not?

You are the only one who can answer that question. But here's something to think about.

School is worth every dollar. It's an investment for the future. Here's a chart showing educational level and earnings along with educational level and unemployment rate:

Earnings and unemployment rates by educational attainment

I am not sure about the schools you mentioned above, but getting a degree from a legitimate university will greatly improve your career prospects.

If someone gave me 1 million dollars, I might not go to school either!

It depends on what you want to do. There are some occupations you can't get into unless you go to school. I work in one of them.

No one that asks an internet forum if college is right for them is a bachelors degree away from being the drug dealer in that poster.

If you are happy and fulfilled with your life and the kind of work you do now, and can see yourself doing it forever, then it's probably not worth it. You really have to WANT to be more educated for schooling to work. If you want to pursue a specific career path, or be a pro in a specific trade, then education is a must. Not everyone aspires to know things.

I think it's wise to analyze the cost of education. Lots of grads out there with student loans they can never file bankruptcy on, and they can hugely impact your life for a long time making those payments.

One degree that is definitely worth it is nursing. There's such a huge demand for nurses, that there is a fast track to permanent residency for immigrants who will be nurses here.

That's the only guaranteed degree-to-job-market-to-good-salary that I can think of. You can live wherever you want if you're a nurse and make good money.

You are doing this backwards. Figure out what kind of job do you want and then she what kind of education if any you need to get it.

OP, why did you post this in the California forum? This isn't a California-related question. There's an Education forum where you'd get more responses. You can message a moderator to ask that your thread be moved to Education.
