Would it really be a good thing to travel 600-700 miles an hour for 30 minutes? And any accident--you'd wouldn't have a hope.

Its vaporware , hes not building it...hes taking jabs at HSR....and his costs are way off... He hasn't answered alot of key questions like what would happen in an Earthquake... How would he get the costs down? 10-30 passengers per tube , is less then the standard train or Jet....how would the trains not crash into each other? How would he deal with heat build up?

Actually, it’s called a cynical ploy to thwart/stall/raise cost of a necessary infrastructure improvement based on proven technology. Stop and Move: Hyperloop proposal: Bad joke or attempt to sabotage California HSR project?

If it works, it can replace air travel. But a prototype might be nice- a gerbil sucked through a Habit-Trail with a vacuum cleaner. Anything. Otherwise, it’s back to filing mindless NIMBY lawsuits.

I hope you're not expecting HSR opponents to read and digest actual analyses of this...idea. I only posted one so I can come back 6 months from now and rub their noses in it.

Seriously now, i believe this is just one of those crazy ideas that'll end up being impossible to build.
I remember a long long time ago they we're going to make something like this going from NY to Paris and the trip would only be like 4 hours.

What does the oil industry have to do with this thread?

High Speed Rail will be obsolete before it's even built if something like the hyperloop ever came to friuition, so advocates for that frivoulously expensive and unnecessary mode of transportation are of course, going to shoot down an idea that would effectively put them out of business.
