Hello -
Looking for some opinions. My company is talking about moving me to CA. I would be working in Tracy. I have been looking at apartments online in Tracy and Manteca. Can anyone give me their opinion of a good apartment? My only real must have is Washer/Dryer hookups. Everything else is negotiable. Thanks in advance for your help. Chances are I won't get to go look at apartments in person before I have to move.

Jeez people, if you can't help the O.P. with apartment recommendations just keep moving. Every time someone is relocating for a job and the area/city isn't on your top places list the "Don't do it!!!" comments start coming. No, Tracy and Manteca aren't San Francisco or West L.A.. So what, plenty of every day people live and work there just fine.

O.P., if you work in Tracy I'd try to live there as well. There's quite a bit of commuter traffic between Stockton and the Bay Area - best not to get caught up in it if you can.

Seriously OP- Try mountain house, Lathrop, etc. Whatever you do. Stay away from Stockton.

Thank you BeauCharles for the suggestions. I have been looking at those. I understand that for some Tracy or Manteca are not the most desirable places to live, but I'm fine with living there . I was there for over a month for work recently so I know what the area is like. Had I known my company would consider a permanent transfer I would have looked at places while I was there. The crime rate there is SIGNIFICANTLY less than where I currently live. I have moved a few times for work already, so I know what I'm getting myself into.

There are some good fishin' holes around the 'CA Delta". We've caught many Striped Bass & Channel Catfish in the Delta/Mendota & CA Aqueduct canals too...

my post had nothing to do with moving to tracy or manteca. my point (which fell in the hole i guess) was don't rent anything without seeing it. it may not even exist!

I have rented apartments three times without seeing them. The key is DO NOT sign the lease until you actually see it. Most places will let you pay a fee to hold the apartment, and let you sign the lease on move in day. That way you can see the place before you actually sign the lease. I'm pretty good at doing my research so it has always worked out for me.
