Far more radiation has been released by nuclear bomb tests in the Pacific than Fukushima.

And, look at how well the Bikini Islanders have done since then. They can't return home and they have high incidents of thyroid cancer. My husband used to fly to Howland and Johnston Atolls in the 70's - they couldn't stay more than two hours - just long enough to refuel and get outta there.

And look how that radiation ended up rendering the entire West Coast of the US uninhabitable, as you fearmongers are convinced Fukushima will do.

In fact, I'm surprised you've stayed in NM, home as it is to Los Alamos. Aren't you afraid of residual radiation?

We are a hundred miles from Los Alamos and Trinity Site + 9000 elev. Nothing to worry about there. More concerned about the Church Rock Spill which occurred when an earthen tailings dam at the UNC Church Rock Uranium Mill spilled on the morning of July 16, 1979. The mill's radioactive fluids spilled into the Puerco River in New Mexico and traveled downstream to Chambers, Ariz.

Well it won't be a surprise when it happens! You were warned - what you do with the information is up to you.

What's worse: Burning up one's energy worrying about stuff that won't happen, or growing a third eye from radiation exposure?

Do let's see... Nope, still hasn't reached higher than background radiation so everyone gets more radiation on any given day of their life.

Get a grip. It won't happen -- at least not because of Fukushima. And if there really is a nuclear accident of sufficient magnitude to render areas 6,000 miles away uninhabitable, then you're in danger too.

Perhaps in the not too distant future, we can get some serious answers about the effects of that disaster on CA and seafood in general from the region that was affected.

Just another sign of our times and culture.

The sensationalist media bombards us with stories and images of ratings, meanwhile our modern culture things history, even history within our very lifetimes is boring and irrelevant to us today, will lead to more and more people believing the sky is falling.

Here: written and published 20-25 years ago, but even more today this is a book to read:
