Leeland Yee, Ron Calderon, and Rod Wright got suspended in the Senate today. Even so, they will continue to receive their $95,291 salary.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The California Senate voted Friday to suspend three lawmakers caught up in separate criminal cases after the latest one to be hauled into court refused to step down, the most serious house-cleaning action the chamber has taken in more than a century.

I am glad to hear the news. They should not get paid, though.

They need their pay to be able to afford a good attorney. You don't expect them to defend themselves using their own money, do you?

Snark aside, the governor has called on them all to resign.

Resign??? That's voluntarily quitting. They should be fired, terminated what ever term you want to call it. Professional driver gets a DUI hes getting fired. Criminal offense, you lose. And that means, without pay.

These pricks are whats wrong with our government.

For what it's worth, only one of them has been convicted of any crimes thus far. Why he hasn't been expelled is between y'all and your representatives. Once in 109 years somehow doesn't seem often enough.

I agree. There is a serious disconnect with these legislators and the real world. A good number of them think they're above the law.
