The threat of skin cancer from exposure to too much sun is a far more real threat to life than our wet, cloudy weather. Of course, here there are people suffering from too much time in the tanning booths.

What David says about the 'Seattle Freeze' is absolutely correct. I've never experienced the kind of rudeness and cliquishness in California that I've seen in either Seattle or Portland. It's true that the weather and traffic aren't great; but I'd have no problem staying in the PNW if it weren't for the people here.

Interesting... They sound like the English. Must be the weather.

Part of it could simply be a bias against Stereo Typical Californians.

I heard it many times those from California are driving up prices and leaving locals priced out...

Califonia natives tend to bring their problems with them to where ever they relocate.

They move to podunk idaho and complain about not having whole foods or trader joes.

^^^ True enough

Just enough to brand everyone in my experience.

A couple bought a magnificent property in the sticks and started complaining all the neighbors were hunters...

Oh, gosh so true! I lived in a tiny mountain valley in WA state, about 3 hours from Portland, right at the base of Mt. Adams. Gorgeous valley with a very small, but tight-knit community. Some from the city were moving to this town as second homes, or to retire. The valley has several large dairy farms. There was one particular new family that moved right next to a dairy farm and started a campaign about the smell. To say the least, they were unsuccessful.

When the wind was just right, the smell overwhelmed the small town in the valley. The biggest dairy farmer's name was Monty. The joke in town was that "Hey, you can smell Monty's money today!"

Whenever I smell a dairy farm now, I can't help thinking of the smell of Monty's money .

All I know is that it rained 75% of the time we were visiting there in April. Being wet and grumpy tends to make you feel less social. Vancouver sucks too, also raining. I wanted to run back to Malibu
