California is the strangest state politically. Theres pockets where liberals would absolutely not like and do a whole lot better in South FL. Sacramento area is more conservative than Tampa Bay area I'd go so far to say. San Fran is liberal, areas outside of there are conservative also..California is like a big mish mash that only equates purple in the end. No clear cut direction overall like the Pac NW has.

No such thing anymore, they are obsolete, the label is now an oxymoron. The ones that were left have either died or switched parties. Perhaps you might still find a few holdouts in the Deep South, but even there, most of them switched to the GOP.
Do you got to do that..??

Possibly one could say the decline of the nation is directly attributed to the increase in "conservative" policy.

Indeed the nation adopted and embraced Reagan's "Trickle down economics" and "war on drugs" which may have or may not have worked for a while, but have been failing since the new millennium. The nation has been trending anti-social/ anti-labor/ pro big business and fundamentalist since the 80's. Hence the reason for our income gap increase, and individual income decline from my perspective.

The primary actual booms for the working class were with the socialistic policy implementation after the great depression and at the end of WWII.

Mindset is not trending "liberal", if it were the Republican party would not fractured and calved the Tea Party too the right of it...

Nope....

-----------
Do you really think the regulating/trust busting/for the people, national park forming Teddy Roosevelt would won on a Republican ticket today? How about Lincoln?
---------------

The only thing the above garbage contributes to the OP's thread is for us all to consider what we call "liberal or conservative" is not static. The concepts themselves are constantly in flux and changing with time.

True but the deep south isn't really an apples to oranges comparison.

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Colorado are all pretty similar to CA and it's arguable whether or not they're more liberal. So t answer your question, yes, CA's liberalness is very overstated. Most of SoCal is typical Sun Belt Arizona-style conservatism with the exception of urban LA. The Central valley has typical rural, agricultural conservatism. The Bay Area and rural NorCal are very liberal, of course. Taken all together, CA is slightly more liberal than average, but since people tend to only consider 'Hollywood' and San Francisco when thinking about CA, it is perceived as very liberal.
Good post. Like I said, I am familiar with California and Washington and the latter is clearly more liberal.

In some of those states such as WA, no laws were proposed because it hasn't been a major issue yet.

Also, California is home to some of the "richest" liberals which is something that shouldn't be ignored. Rich libs aren't exactly the same as their poorer brothers in arms. They are often a lot more "moderate" on certain issues such as gay marriage, gay rights, low income housing, and affirmative action.

The biggest example would be the Mayoral run-off between Willie Brown and Tom Ammiano in SF 15 years ago. Willie Brown simply beat out Tom Ammiano because he was slightly less gay. "Two dad's" class room education is okay to rich libs as long as it's not taught to their children.

I see no problem with this law. When has a transgender boy ever stalked an ordinary girl? Name a single case. A boy wouldn't go through transgender efforts unless he believed wholeheartedly to be a she

Is a state primarily defined by its physical geography - or by its population? Particularly when speaking politically.

Ok whatever

Why is Liberal a dirty word though?
Despite politics where would you rather go on a holiday?
Surfing in the pacific, strolling artsy shops, tasting fine wines, chilling in amazing weather in a transgender paradise?

Or instead go to a Conservative town with big corporate banks, no life after 5pm, police speed traps, and people who live in 50 acre homes with shotguns...and where it's a fine for singing the cuz I'm Happy song in public
Then ask me why I'm a social liberal
