Finally a win for the California anti-regulation crowd! Food workers can once again defile and abuse your food bare handed.

I'm just wondering, after you pay do you wash your hands before eating every time?

Not to mention the toll of anti bacterial soaps.

I know it is a shock, but people are disigned to work in an environment that isn't clean.

It was a bad law and poorly written. Maybe write better bills and this won't be a problem?

Plus you can always just prepare and eat your own food if you are paranoid about things. Nobody is forced to go out to eat.

1000s and 1000s of people in CA have died each year from eating out.

That's why the glove law was passed. Right? Now we are back to how it has always been.

Does it help if you eat while wearing gloves?

I've had to do volunteer food service for an organization so I know first-hand how it is. With gloves you touch something foreign and you have to replace the gloves. And you touch stuff all the time. Your forehead. Money. Touch money, put on a new set.

Now, food handling rules already state under the same conditions you have to wash your hands under warm water with soap for 30 seconds. That's the same level of hygiene as gloves, and it is much quicker. In fact, there's less a sense of complacency about hygiene than wearing gloves, which comforts the patron more than guarantees worker standards. The law was a time and money waster.

I wish legislators would investigate the subject before they write bills. They really have this Ivory Tower attitude thinking they understand business.

Food comes from nature and has been exposed to way more than some restaurant workers hands. If there is meat, it came from the inside of some animals body!!! Yuck, right, OP? There have been studies showing that children raised under a policy of hyper-cleanliness turn out less healthy.
