Oh excuse me, E-B-T. The thinking in this country has gone so depraved. Eating out of any sort was once considered a luxury. I found an El Pollo Loco which proudly had a sign which read that they accepted EBT.

That provision has been on the books for years. It was put in, because many homeless people do not have cooking/storage facilities or some disabled people are unable to cook.

Restaurant Meals

For many elderly, disabled and homeless individuals, CalFresh is of limited assistance as they are unable to store or prepare food safely themselves. This is why California has chosen a federal option that allows these recipients to purchase prepared food through the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). The RMP allows elderly, disabled and homeless CalFresh recipients to purchase hot, prepared meals with their EBT cards at approved restaurants. For all other CalFresh recipients, federal rules preventing the purchase of prepared food still apply.

How does the cost of a meal at El Pollo Loco compare to the cost of buying the same ingredients? I'm guessing it's not that far off.

Yeah but now you're defending allowing the elderly and disabled to eat. What won't they think of next!?

You are kidding yourself if you think elderly and disabled people are heading out to El Pollo Loco and Del Taco to eat. Its all the broke, jobless losers sucking up benefits Obama and his socialist pals have handed them giving them ZERO incentive to look for work these days. Just live off those of us with jobs and the government!

You know, mbell, every time you trot out the old "you're kidding yourself if -" whatever line at me, I prove you wrong. You should just quit that approach. Enjoy life, man. Go down to El Pollo Loco and have a bite to eat with an old-timer in a wheelchair. Buy'em a slice of pie for a deezurt. Spread a little joy. It'll make you feel better about all your miserable suffering.

Since you seem to think that being on food stamps is so much fun, here's a handy guide on how you can qualify yourself:

Eligibility and Issuance Requirements

All you have to do is: (a) reduce your income to less than 130% of the federal poverty level; (b) liquidate all but $2000 of your cash assets; and (c) fill out application forms on which you must, among other things, prove your legal immigrant status.

Oh, and you'll still have to work at least 20 hours a week, as long as you're able-bodied and under 50.

Then you too can enjoy the luxurious splendor of having an extra $200 to spend on food every month.

Go for it!

you are wrong

illegals are provided with two things when they get here: 1) checkbook that draws from the U.S. treasury; and 2) huge amounts of welfare

They do lawns and pick fruit just for fun.
