Good. So let's start with the cities that water their own lawns, including the parks and continuously filling up artificial ponds that serve no purpose beyond (surprise) aesthetics. How about CalTrans and all them gushers I see watering the oleander and weeds along the shoulders?

Don't get me started with the medians...and the golf courses.

But here they claim to use recycled water.

Oh, so in other words, "the rules don't apply to those that wrote them".

Ok, gotcha. That's great PR.

Recycled or not, they should be leading by example. Not carving out exemptions for themselves and sticking it to everyone else including turning neighbors-who have to live with each other-against each other. Is it any wonder why there is so little respect for the "authorities" these days?

Not because I am a busybody but because I can't stand anyone who thinks they are too important to follow the rules.
Another sheep to add to the collection of dupes. If this confessed busybody truly "can't stand" those who don't "follow the rules" -- as decreed by corrupt, bought-and-paid-for politicians -- perhaps this sheep can start by reporting (1) the thousand-plus golf courses across California who spray tons of acre-feet of water to keep grass green so people can hit a ball into a hole, (2) state and local government buildings with large lawns, fountains, and gardens which consume tons of water, and (3) state and local government buildings which lack flow-restricted and auto-shutoff sinks, toilets, etc., of which there are many.

So go to it sheep. Get it done in a "heartbeat." Go get those "too important" water violators. Become the tool of creeping authoritarianism. But at least try to spare your middle-class neighbors who simply want to eek out a living in this high cost, high tax state, and strike a blow against "Rules for ye, but not for thee."

(I'd wager very big money the number of well-heeled, politically-connected water-wasting businesses and local governments he reports for violating water restrictions: zero. Despite the fact this would have, by far, orders of magnitude more impact than tattling on his poor sap neighbors, this dupe will do nothing. Absolutely nothing.)

I cannot count the number of points you missed...and btw...did you see that they use recycled water? Nonpotable? When I lived in California, they watered all public areas with recycled water. We even had a field trip to the recycled water plant in middle school.

And I live in Texas, where we also still have water restrictions from time to time (like RIGHT NOW) and I don't think ANYONE, including the govt or golf courses should be spared. But the residences use clean water and the city/courses do not. So that is their excuse.

And yes...when it is for the community, I think rules should be followed. Like not speeding through a family neighborhood (just saw a totally preventable wreck yesterday). Or not wasting water.

That does not make me a sheep. That makes me NOT a giant dbag narcissist.

Honestly......it was stupid to popularize lawns in California in the first place and regulations should have limited their use years ago in new developments. Let's have some parks and open spaces with lawns so people can play, but everyone with a home doesn't need their own lawn and there are plenty of plants we can use instead that use much less water.

Swimming pools are ridiculous too, there should be a hefty annual swimming pool tax on any home with a swimming pool.

Lawns, pools etc....in an arid climate.

This is the thing to do. In some SW cities, people don't have lawns. They either xeriscape, or just cover everything with gravel, and decorate with desert rock. Coming soon, to a neighborhood near you, in CA.

My cheap and/or lazy neighbors don't water their lawns drought or no drought. Has nothing to do with conserving water, they just don't give a flip. Plus our city has no water restrictions so all they would get is a "mind your own business" from the water department if they did.

Better not to have lawns, of course, but watering is fine if you do it at the right time.. i.e. at night after the sun has gone down. I see so many people watering early in the morning and it all just evaporates in the sun, now that is really wasteful.

They want people fighting and not living happily. This is why the government wants it to be a war between neighbors. The top 1% want the people divided period. I will not look into other peoples yards to check their watering habits under ANY circumstances. I don't give a shat what you do on your property, as long as you don't come into mine.
