The death penalty as it currently exists is a HUGE WASTE of taxpayers money. The trials and subsequent appeals cost millions, and are drug out indefinitely. Just give these people life w/o parole. Now if we could ever actually start carrying out these executions in a timely manner- I'm all for it.

Right on! Right or wrong! Just get these people dead or locked away for good! It's all about time and money, not justice!

Harrier agrees with this decision.

The death penalty is barbaric, unnecessary, and too prone to error.

Harrier does not want to be a part of a state that sends innocent people to their death.

What is your opinion on the ruling, given that we had the opportunity to scrap our death penalty 1 1/2 years ago and didn't do so?
Unfortunately....Murder is not unconstitutional.

Not sure where you're getting that information. The cost is high but not that high.

By the numbers, the annual cost of the death penalty in the state of California is $137 million compared to the cost of lifetime incarceration of $11.5 million.

Death penalty is not unconstitutional. I have no problem with cold-blooded murderers and even rapists being sent to be judged by their maker sooner.

However, I did vote last year to repeal California's death penalty. Why? We don't use it. Why spend money just to keep it around.

I do not have the right to take the life of another human absence defense of myself or another, and I do not delegate that authority to my government.

No need to over-complicate this.
