If I have to pick only one thing, I'd say the weather (when it's not hot like now anyway). I love cool weather and fog, probably because I'm used to it. I love watching the fog roll in & out, and I like hearing the fog horns in the distance on foggy nights.

1000 miles of waters ways, The Delta.

Including the drying up lakes 1 hour away.

Chula Vista, CA

What I like is that it's not San Diego proper. Lots of good places to shop for food. Rather calm and quiet for a city it's size.

It snows. Friendly people. No traffic. No palm trees. Surprising amount of culture and events for a small town area. Yosemite and Tahoe an easy scenic drive away. The Sierras* and the Gold County are fabulous!

*Sierra just doesn't sound right

Aliso Viejo:

It's very small, hilly & pretty with flowers & trees everywhere; and it's just 10-15 minutes away from the ocean.

All of this adds up to more than "one thing," but I also love that AV is green, still fairly progressive, health conscious (OC's longest life expectancy), clean, safe (One of CA's safest cities), with good schools, and well-managed with low unemployment (Among the lowest of any OC city), a solid infrastructure and a budget surplus.

I miss the energy of the blended cultures in Los Angeles and the amazing beauty of the San Diego area.

Sierra is correct. Sierras doesn't look or sound right unless your using it in the possessive with an apostrophe.
