We are looking for affordable, gay-friendly (with visible communities) cites in California to relocate to. We are a laid-back couple in our mid-30's. We both like Sacramento and Palm Springs. If anyone can help us compare the two or add one you feel would fit us better, please let us know.

Palm Springs is very gay friendly, there is even a gay Yellowpages for the area, lol. I work in Palm Springs, and easily 1/3 of the workforce is gay ( not that I care either way). Not knowing your income, I'm not sure if you would find Palm Springs affordable. The housing-condo prices have gone down a bit, but still pricey. If you work in hospitality there are a decent amount of jobs available. As you imagine, it gets hot in the summer, but the payoff is you have the whole town to yourself. No traffic, waiting in lines, etc.

My partner and I have lived in Humboldt county for 16 years and have had no problems. The gay culture is still fairly new here with one bar that host gays and a new GLBT night club opening up on the 13th of January in Eureka CA. If you check our *****humboldt.com or gay.com and search for Eureka Ca or Humboldt county Ca. I myself am surprised at how many gay people there are in our community here. I went to the bar that host gays on Thursday nights last night for the first time. It is not my scene, I just wanted to see what it was like. There were nearly 20 gay men there and I did not know any of them. There is a strong gay pride movement here, especially in Arcata. All of our towns are small and fairly laid back especially Arcata and McKinleyville. Our economy is slow and jobs are not as numerous as in a Metro area, but life is slower, cleaner and safer here.

Take a look at Long Beach. We host the annual Gay Pride Parade and Festival which lasts all week-end. It's the second largest festival, which attracts thousands. The LB Grand Prix comes in first.

Not enough information.

What is your housing price range or rental budget?
Where are you going to work?
What line of work are you in?

Why Sacramento?
Why Palm Springs?

We are looking to rent a place around 700 month. We both work from home. We have taken an interest in Palm Springs and Sacramento based on rental costs we have researched online.

Depending on what area of Sacramento you live in, some parts are not gay friendly. Mainly in the area where people live on ranches and seem like confederates.
