Hi - we'll be visiting SLO soon for a few days (next week) and I was wondering if there are some websites that list all the events going on in town. We will be a group aged 11 - 75 (my kids, my husband and me, and my parents- 3 generations).

Or if anyone has any suggestions - I see there is a drive in, that could be fun....

The drive-in IS fun. If you're in SLO on a Thursday night, definitely go to the farmer's market downtown. You can check out the Madonna Inn and have a meal there (and visit their infamous bathroom). Visit the historic Mission downtown and walk around the creek/plaza area. There are plenty of beaches in the area to see: Pismo, Avila, Morro Bay, Montana de Oro State Park. You could head all the way up to Hearst Castle, too.

The free New Times paper has a good community calendar: New Times | Calendar and the SLO Tribune has one, too: San Luis Obispo Events & Entertainment in San Luis Obispo - SanLuisObispo.com

^ this and pasties at the place across the street from the mission washed down with cider or ale.
Also, good wineries in the area. Bring the kid to the beach (Avila), or even Pismo.
See if you can book the lighthouse tour. You have to do this in advance. That could be a fun outing as well.

Go to the downtown area and WALK AROUND.

There used to be a Farmers' Market on Thursday night (think it is still going on) and just seeing the town itself is a treat.

Yeah you pretty much summed it up. You could go hiking too, on top of all that. Bishop's Beak is the most popular hike.

If you go to Avila, the Avila Valley Barn is a popular stop. Morro Bay, Pismo, and Montana De Oro are all beach destinations, except Pismo has more shopping and dining.

I don't think its a tourist destination, but Nipomo has the Santa Maria Speedway. Bring earplugs if you go!

If you're meat eaters and make it to Nipomo be sure to check out Jocko's, a venerable steakhouse. Never tried it myself but it has an awesome reputation.

I go to Jocko's a lot and the "awesome" reputation is justified!!!
