Except for my Navy deployments, I have lived my whole life in Southern California. Sixty-three years now . . . and I "love" the climate here. Perpetual summer, Oh Yeah! Don't like rain. It gets in the way of doing stuff outdoors. Boring can be good.

There's one cool about this country...if you don't like it here...you are free to leave the state and move elsewhere. Nobody is going to stop you.

the point he's making is, if people can afford to live anywhere they want, places that are nice and cheaper, they choose California quite likely for the climate.

Well duh! That part of the east bay is an oven in summer. I grew up in Berkeley and there was always a nice cool breeze blowing in off the bay and most days it was between 66 and 72, warmer in September and October.

I think that preference for climate is different for everyone and that the real great weather areas ca in known for is very small compared to the size of the state and to live in those small areas requires big money.

Oh lots of really rich people there, that MUST mean it's a great place to live! No thanks.

Thank you for not crowding in. Really. Much appreciated.
Do keep commenting on where you don't want to live though. This forum thrives on the entertainment provided by outside looking in.

That's exactly my point. When people say California has "perfect weather" they are only taking about 3% of the state's land mass, and they're not speaking for everyone.

Add Baker to this list too.

At least Needles has the river. All Baker has is a big thermometer and awful freeway traffic on the weekends.
