My friend runs 2 1000w MH lamps 18hrs a day and 2 1000w HPS lamps 12 hrs a day on top of his household usage, and has never had a visit.

Yes there is and yes it is.
Personally, I would slam the door in the officer's face if they ever came to my house to snoop around based on electric bills. That by itself should not be enough for probable cause and I would suspect any judge signing off on this as rubber stamping the warrant. If the police were to force their way in you bet yer ass somebody is going to pay by way of a lawsuit.

That's not how it works. They will stake out your place and wait for you to attempt to move it. Once in a traffic stop (and that's easy) it will go from there. If they do find a large amount on you or whoever is buying it then can get a warrant.

When a cop comes knocking on your door and you are a law abiding citizen and have done nothing wrong the worst thing you can do is cop an attitude.

The cops came to your door because their superiors sent them or your neighbors made a complaint.

Go ahead and give him a hard time if you like but don't complain when another cop in your town gives you a summons for going 5 MPH over the limit.

Better yet tell him to **** off and ask him what's he gonna do about that? You know how that can turn out for some people.

Jeesh... total bunk paranoia internet stories

Simply a high power bill isn't going to have us raiding your home... nor would I just door knock out of the blue saying ... hi..you had a high power bill please let me search your house now.... could it possibly happen.. I guess anything is possible.. I've only had one person in my life say sure..search my private things and sign a document allowing me to do so... we have such a form... usually we use it for Mexican mules who walk away from cash..its not mine senor kind of stuff
If it was important enough to look at you I would develop all the PC I needed BEFORE you ever knew it... so that IF an arrest occurred for some crime I'm not wasting my valuable time and effort

Stay focused on reality

If you are using inordinant amounts of power for personal gratification you should consider what you can do to lighten the load upon all of us and the planet

[quote=notmeofficer;36692077]Unfortunately we spend most of our resources on ten percent of society that are worthless blood suckers...

There is a solution... it wouldn't be pretty but it would be effective... neuter felons of the dangerous kind and stop the procreation of failed generations...

That would be fatal to the democrat party.................

OP, this sounds like the best solution. Why draw law enforcement's attention to yourself? Just call your utility and talk to them.
