Charging for a grocery bag = incentive to bring your own bags. (Paying for a speeding ticket = incentive not to speed next time.)

Yep, pretty simple concept. And if anybody is crying for the flimsy blowaway petroleum-based plastic bag industry, there instantly arise opportunities in the canvas bag business. Time to evolve.

I'm dusting off my sewing machine and getting to work on those tomorrow. Look for them on eBay.

Or beef up thier bags to be better reused for groceries.
I have no problem with the ban. I no longer see trees with flocks of flimsy plastic bags fluttering about.
In our stores, one can get paper bags for .10, or for .25 get a large and very durable plastic bag. And for .99 one can get a 'recycled materials' medium sized bag that is even more durable.
There is opportunity there for bag makers.

What bothers me about the ban are all the excuses and reasons for resisting change.
We survived for a good many centuries of shopping without pastic bags and I'm sure the end of plastic grocery bags won't lead to the end of humanity.

Where on earth do you people live? I've never seen a plastic bag in a tree ever. And yes, I get out plenty.

Visit a park outside of your neighborhood.

If city leaders want to boost election turnout they should put a plastic bag ban repeal on the ballot.
