We purchased a home in september. The house was completely remodeled. They took it down to studs. The first rain we noticed 5 leaking windows. What are my rights in California?

Read your contract and see what it says, call your insurance company and tell them the windows are leaking or if you have a home warranty read it and see if it covers the windows.

Its probably leaking due to improperly caulked casings on the window exterior. It's an easy fix. There is no other reason for such a leak. But you better get it fixed fast as it can create a mold problem within the walls.

Could be something simple... maybe even caulking... at least it was on a home I bought.

You should have a folder with manufacturer and warranty information since the home was just taken down to the studs...

I doubt the "Builders" warranty you may be thinking of would apply here... the home was not new.

Wow... Mold. We are going to caulk them, but i was wondering if it's really a bigger problem and possibly we should have them removed and installed properly.

My realtor just called. The seller is sending someone to repair so we'll see what happens. Thanks again.

Do yourself a favor and be there when they "fix" it.
